I really enjoyed it out of all the transgender/intersex novels I've read no novel ever capture complexity of how gender plays in one's self identity as well as this book does. If your at all intested fiction that addresses gender than I highly recommend it. Read it its worth it.That bit was for consumers who want to know if the book is a worthwhile read. The next part is constructive criticism aimed directly at the author, that I hope will help improve the authors writing. But if you think I'm full of crap please let what I'm about to say go in one ear and out the other.There are areas I think slowed it down a little to much. I feel to much time spent the planning and execution of there shows. When you narrating them planning their live performances in great detail, and than narrate the live performances in great detail, unless something doesn't go as planned you're just narrating the same thing twice. I feel it would have been better if you narrated one in great detail and quickly surmised the other. If you go into great detail and narrating the planning phase just short paragraph or two describing how well the live performances went is enough.. if you narrate the live performances a quick scene scene where they give credit to tasha for any of the brilliant ideas used in the show would suffice.. Was a minor annoyance but still worth mentioning.This next part im hesitant to say as I don't know if you plan to continue Tasha story at all and if you are planning to write more you might already be planning this and I'd be wasting my breath here.As facinating as the role gender identity has on one self identity, it at least equally if not more so facinating role on interpersonal communication. Now in you book Tasha, was surrounded by people who 100% supportive, comfortable and understanding of her situation. Tasha never had to deal with any of the prejudice or awkwardness people can often have towards intersex and transgender. Felt like that was a huge missed opportunity for compelling narrative material. It's why I was so disappointed the prom date never happened. What better chance to display the full range of different ways different people could react both good and badly to Tasha situation than at a high-school prom. I was looking forward to that scene sine the prom was first mention in the book was so disappointed it didn't happen. But if you're planning on making this subject of discrimination and prejudice a focus of a future wildcats story well im wasting my breath here. To be honest it would work better that way. Get Tasha to a place where she's no longer struggling with not liking herself before throwing something new at her.Like said I love your book, and if you think i don't know what I'm talking about feel free to ignore my criticism as i might not know as much as i think i do, but if what said does help write better that would make me happy as I'm a big fan of yours.
